David BASSIR
Professor David Bassir is a distinguished scholar of international repute, serving as the Director of the Smart Structural Health Monitoring and Control (SSHMC) Laboratory at the Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT), where he also holds a prestigious position within the DGUT-CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) joint institute. His research is strategically positioned at the critical intersection of computational mechanics, smart materials, and data science, forming a comprehensive foundation for innovation in engineering systems. His primary expertise is manifest in the development of high-performance computational models for simulating complex physical phenomena, including fluid-structure interactions and gas dispersion, which directly informs his work in structural dynamics and vibration analysis aimed at enhancing the safety and longevity of civil and mechanical structures. A pioneer in his field, Professor Bassir is at the forefront of Smart Structural Health Monitoring, championing the use of advanced sensor networks, such as Fiber Bragg Gratings and piezoelectric transducers, integrated with intelligent algorithms for the real-time damage detection and condition assessment of critical infrastructure. Furthermore, he leads pioneering projects in the creation of Digital Twins for engineering systems, developing dynamic virtual replicas of physical assets to enable predictive maintenance and operational optimization. His strong collaborative ties with renowned institutions in France, including INSA-Rouen, underscore his active promotion of international research and student exchange.
